Travers Stakes 2026 is almost here, and Silver Cannabis Company, a local dispensary near the horse track, wants to be your first stop before the race. This guide will prepare you for the big day.
What Is the Travers Stakes?
The Travers Stakes is the oldest major thoroughbred race in America, dating back to 1864. It’s held every August at the Saratoga Race Course. The Grade 1 derby features three-year-olds running around the track for a $1.25 million purse.
The DraftKings Travers takes over Saratoga Race Course on Saturday, August 29, headlining a day packed with five additional graded stakes races. Gates open at 9:00 AM with first post set for 11:05 AM.
Guests with paid admission can snag a free backyard picnic table on a first-come, first-served basis (just remember to bring a tablecloth), and there’s no shortage of food and drink options to enjoy throughout the grounds.
Attendees can find free parking at the northeast of the race course, on the opposite side of Union Avenue, where shuttle service will take you to the gates; premium and valet options are also available. The dress code for the event varies by section. The backyard is casual, but the Clubhouse and 1863 Club require collared shirts and no short shorts.
Who is favored to win the Travers Stakes this year? Contenders are still coming together, so the updated odds will come closer to the date.
